Extended Day Learning

Extended Day Learning runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
during the school year from 3:30 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.

Extended Day Learning is a program that supports cognitive and academic development through after-school tutoring opportunities provided by Sedgwick Junior/Senior High School teachers.  This program is well-supervised with the purpose of teaching students how to create positive habits such as task persistence and work ethic, and ultimately improve students’ academic performance.  Teacher-provided tutoring would accommodate students’ individual needs to help build a path to success.

If your student is failing a class, we appreciate you taking some time to encourage your student to complete or turn in any missing work.  To help students with their academics, all 7-12 students can participate in our after-school tutoring opportunities.  Sedgwick Junior High and High School teachers are available after school each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the Commons from 3:25-4:10 p.m.  There is no need to sign up and all students are encouraged to attend as needed.  Additionally, all students who are out for a school activity and are failing a class, or any student who is failing a class multiple weeks in a row, are required to attend the after-school tutoring session until their grade(s) are passing.  Failure to attend can result in the accumulation of unexcused absences, which can lead to truancy.

To view your student's grades, please log into PowerSchool at https://usd439.powerschool.com/public/.  If you need assistance logging into PowerSchool, please watch the informational video below. If you have questions about an assignment or grade, please contact your student’s teacher(s) or the Junior High/High School office at 316-772-5155. The teachers and staff at USD 439 want to work with you to best help your student.  Thank you for your assistance.
